Photolicious Memories

Let's face it!  The years of staged or typical backdrop photos are over.  Sure it's nice to have a few pictures of the family or the wedding party all lined up on the beach or the altar but these pictures are always found in the main living area of a home.  Every bride loves for her guests to see how amazing she looks when they walk in the door.  You will often find a nice, big, blown up photo over the mantle.  Often times, the bride may put a wedding photo in the bedroom to remind her husband how gorgeous she was on the happiest day of their lives.  But what about the other rooms in the house?  The latest trend is to keep a few of the tried-and-true wedding photos, but to add unique, fun photos, that capture the personality of the whole wedding party. They’re as fun to look at as they are to take!

Check out this photo of  some friends of ours, courtesy of Greenkey Photography.  This candid, Tony Soprano-like picture embeds their last name in the corner.  This picture screams "man cave" and could possibly be found hanging in the study next to a decanter of your finest scotch.  There's the old tradition of having a groom's cake...what about a groom's photo?

Out with the stuffy photos and in with the props and backgrounds using cream city brick, old barns, your first car, or your grandmother's picture frames.  I love the following photo simply for the fact that your husband will never forget your wedding day!  Beautiful, vintage frames are used to encase your wedding date.

OK, so maybe you have an artistic side and like the juxtaposition of traditional lace beauty and street scenes. I love the different pops of color in the photo!  For the record, I am not encouraging any type of public graffiti, but this could certainly be done on plywood and propped up on your curb, or you could scout out a location ahead of time.

Candidness is key to showing real emotion, and real emotion is what makes photos compelling.   This picture is of my son, bored out of his mind, upset that he has to hold a little, stupid, white pillow, mad that he's wearing a pink tie (which you obviously can't see), and all he can think about is when this wedding is going to be over!  It captures a beautiful and very real moment that he will laugh about when he’s older.  The brick in the background and the not-so-new curb adds a touch of old world charm.

Don't stop short of finding ways of displaying your photos!  Geezees Custom Canvas embeds your picture with your wedding date, song lyrics from your first dance, nicknames that you might have for one another, favorite phrases, or possibly the name of the person that gave you this idea;)...the options are endless.

Photos don't just serve the purpose of something pretty to look at, but it can also be used in a purposeful manner.  What about save the date cards or use them as your thank you's.

It’s your wedding, don’t be afraid to let your photos embrace and share your personality, creativity, and what makes you and your wedding different and special. Trust me, your friends will all be saying, "I wish we’d done something like this at OUR wedding!!"
